The AmCham Shanghai Manufacturers' Business Council invites you to the Manufacturing Quarterly Roundup: From CBR Insights to Tariff Updates, taking place on Tuesday, November 4, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the AmCham Shanghai Conference Room.


The session will open with an overview of the 2025 China Business Report (CBR) presented by Rachel Rapaport, Senior Manager at AmCham Shanghai who will highlight key findings and insights on China's manufacturing sector.


Following the CBR presentation, our trade expert Michael Wu, Director, from Deloitte will provide an update on the latest U.S. tariff developments in light of the potential high-level trade negotiations and VIP meetings during the APEC Summit. The session will cover potential outcomes of renewed U.S.โ€“China trade discussions, including updates on tariffs, rare earth materials, semiconductor components, agricultural products etc. The session will also explore how these evolving trade measures and geopolitical tensions are reshaping supply chains, cost structures, and strategic planning for multinational manufacturers operating in China.

    Michael is a Director of Customs and Indirect Tax team under Deloitte China Tax & Business advisory Service based in Shanghai.

    In the past 12 years, Michael has been engaged in advising many MNC and China based clients on a wide range of China customs and international trade matters, covering navigating dynamic geopolitical trade tensions, supply chain restructuring, tariff measures, including customs valuation, Free Trade Agreement, tariff classification, etc.; Non-tariff measures, including trade facilitation programs, export control mechanism design, deployment and improvement etc.; Other related services, including customs audit and investigation defense, business restructuring, bonded warehouse reconciliation, etc.

    Michael has received a Masters Degree in Law from Shanghai Jiaotong University.

    Before joining Deloitte, Michael was working with a top-tier law firm and obtained the China lawyer certificate. These experiences have granted him with a solid academic background and a profound knowledge of tax laws, accounting concepts, and international economics.
