In this member briefing, Daniel Zipser, Senior Partner at McKinsey and Leader of their Asia Consumer & Retail Practice, will offer an insightful perspective on the evolving Chinese consumption landscape. He will explore the encouraging prospects for economic and consumption recovery, highlight emerging opportunities across diverse sectors, and provide insights on how multinational companies can align their strategies with the dynamic consumer trends in China.

    Dr. Daniel Zipser

    Senior Partner at McKinsey & Company

    Daniel leads McKinsey’s Consumer & Retail Practice across Asia Pacific. He works with local Chinese leaders to transform their businesses by driving profitable growth in China and delivering successful global expansion. He also works with some of the world's largest MNCs to drive their performance in China and Asia.

    He began his McKinsey career in the Frankfurt Office in 2001 and transferred to the Shanghai office in 2007. He led the Sales & Marketing Practice in Greater China and later the Consumer & Retail in Greater China and across Asia Pacific.

    Daniel works with a broad set of consumer companies spanning beauty, food & beverages, fashion, apparel & luxury, consumer health, travel & tourism, and automotive. His primary focus remains sales and marketing, but his client work often spans broader, more holistic topics including organization, corporate finance, and operations.

    He is a frequent author, publishing articles to help companies better understand consumers in Asia and specifically China. He publishes a regular LinkedIn blog. In this, he explores consumer and retail trends across Asia, with a focus on China.

    Daniel holds a PhD in Finance and a masters degree in economics and business administration from Otto Beisheim School of Management (WHU), Germany.
