Changzhou National High-tech District (CND) is one of the first batch of national-level high-tech districts, which is approved by the State Council in November 1992. It is also an important part of the Southern Jiangsu National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone. The total area of CND is 508.94 km2, with a population of approximately 700,000. There are more than 40,000 enterprises, including more than 11,000 industrial enterprises and 1,800 foreign-funded enterprises.

The 2019 GDP of CND was 154.37 billion RMB, the per capita GDP was 220,000 RMB, the actual foreign capital received was 762 million US dollars, and the total import and export volume was 84.8 billion yuan, ranking 24th among the 169 national high-tech districts in China.

In addition, CND is focused on establishing the Changzhou High-speed Rail New Town with a total planned area of 56 square kilometers. Changzhou High-speed Rail New Town is the strategic focus and highlight of Changzhou's high-quality development, and is the core of the region's future, which will include five centers of finance and business, regional headquarters, international conventions and exhibitions, cultural tourism and sports, and quality of life.
