Jeremy Beck, a US diplomat since 2003, is currently Chief of the Office of Provincial Relations based at the US Consulate General in Shanghai. Most recently he was the US government’s APEC Coordinator based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. Other assignments include Chief of Staff in the Office of the Chief Economist, Special Assistant to the Under Secretary of State, and Economic Officer at the US Embassy in Beijing. Jeremy speaks Chinese, French, and some Thai and has lived and worked in Shanghai, Papua New Guinea, Beijing, Bangkok, Washington, New York, London, and Paris. Jeremy holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and a master’s degree from Columbia University. On a personal note, he is a Utah-born, Idaho-raised grandson of a potato farmer, and the proud father of five Chinese-speaking children.
