    https://www.linkedin.com/in/lizhangobs/

Li was born in Luoyang, Henan, a province that holds the title of China’s third largest coal production base as well as being one of the four ancient capitals of China. Having been adopted by distant family members and moved to Chongqing, Li witnessed, through the eyes of a curious child, the complete demolition and urban transformation after Chongqing’s municipality independence in 1997. She then gained a first-hand understanding of the intertwining relationship between China’s political economy and the individual choices made by influential members in the world's most populous nation.

Li was fortunate to have completed her undergraduate studies in the UK and soon after, she won a full merit-based scholarship to study at the University of Oxford. She completed a Master’s degree in Contemporary China studies with a focus on politics and international relations.

After graduation, she moved to South Africa and conducted ethnographical research on China’s soft power influence across continental Africa, addressing how local entrepreneurs were responding to the rise of Asia.

Li returned to Shanghai in 2015 to run Oxford Bright Scholars, a non-profit, which offered summer experiences to international students passionate about understanding China’s economic transformation and political governance structure. The program ran for two summers, partnered with NYU Shanghai, and supported 15 undergraduate students throughout their academic and professional careers in China.

Working closely with entrepreneurs, university professors, and ASEAN policymakers, Li spent the next 12 months working to ensure that the rise of Asia could better orientate towards equity and sustainability. As Head of Partnerships, she went on to develop and design a new educational program initiative for Alibaba’s Global eCommerce Talent Program, training and developing educational frameworks for more than 200 university professors across China and South East Asia.

Li continued to build the platform from its inception, to its recognition at 2019’s China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week, where 62 universities are represented with partners across 22 countries.
