The American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai invites you to join the launch of the 2026 Edelman Trust Barometer China Report on Tuesday, April 14, from 2:30 p.m. โ€“ 4:30 p.m. in the Chamber's Conference Room.


In this event, Mr. Qu Hong, President of Edelman Group Greater China, together with Professor Fan Hong, Director of the National Image Communication Research Center at Tsinghua University, will share the report's core findings. They will explain why trust is essential for businesses, governments, NGOs and the media to navigate uncertainty and grow amid shifting global politics, uneven economic recovery and rapid AI-driven innovation.

    Director, National Image Research Centre of Tsinghua University

    Dr. Fan is professor at the School of Journalism and Communication, Tsinghua University, and holds a Ph.D. in Cross-Cultural Communication from the University of Oxford, UK. She serves as the Director of the National Image Research Center at Tsinghua University, a Board Member of the International Place Branding Association, a Global Advisory Board Member of the Edelman Trust Institute, the Director of the City Branding Committee of the China International Public Relations Association, and the Deputy Director of the Brand Communication Committee of the China Science and Technology News Association. Since 2007, she has taught EMBA courses in Managerial Communication and Corporate Communication at Tsinghua's School of Economics and Management.

    Professor Fan began her career at Tsinghua in 1988, becoming a full Professor in 2000. She directed the Institute of Public Relations and Strategic Communication of her school (2010-2019) and the Global Communication Office of Tsinghua University (2016-2019). Her research focuses on corporate reputation, branding strategy, and place branding, leading numerous consulting projects for Chinese enterprises and cities.

    With extensive international experience, she has served as a diplomat in New Zealand, a Distinguished Professor at Kean University (USA), an Honorary Professor at Purdue University, and a Visiting Professor for Tsinghua-INSEAD's EMBA program. Her interdisciplinary expertise bridges academia and industry, making her a leading voice in global communication and branding.

    Prior to taking the role as Greater China President of Daniel J. Edelman Holding in 2024, Qu Hong served as CEO of BCW China. He began his career with the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China (MOFCOM) and served as a diplomat at the Chinese Embassy in Chile during his seven years of government service. Qu Hong joined Burson-Marsteller China in 2005 and established the public affairs consulting team. Before rejoining BCW in 2017, he worked as Chief Consultant for several well-known international public relations consulting firms.

    Based on his understanding of the international geopolitical, economic and business environments, as well as his insights into China's complex policy systems and decision-making mechanisms, Qu Hong is dedicated to using his strategic thinking to advise renowned international brands as well as China's leading corporations. He has assisted major multinationals such as Microsoft, Qualcomm, Apple, Shell, Visa, BHP Billiton, Total Energies, Mars, Hong Kong Jockey Club, Haier, Lenovo and many others to develop and implement corporate communications strategies to support their business growth in China and other overseas markets; helped multinationals to successfully complete major M&A in China, formulate market entry strategies, avoid policy risks, manage crisis and protect their corporate reputations; and he has provided training to senior management teams of companies, including Fortune 500 global CEOs. In the meanwhile, he has been actively involved in providing reliable communications advisory to major Chinese companies such as OPPO, BGI and Perfect Diary in their overseas branding strategies.

    Qu Hong graduated from Beijing Foreign Studies University with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish.
