The American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai's Sustainability & Corporate Responsibility Committee invites you to a event on Climate Resilience in China & Asia: Building for an Uncertain Future, on Wednesday, April 8, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Chamber's Conference Room.


China is already reshaping its cities, industries and supply chains to address climate change, emerging as a global benchmark for climate resilience. As Asia-Pacific markets accelerate their transitions, China's policies, technologies and corporate practices are becoming a valuable playbook for the region.


Our guest speakers: David Fishman, Principal at The Lantau Group; Helen Hu, Senior Sustainability PM/Supplier Engagement Lead at Microsoft Device Supply Chain; and Albert Chan, Group Chief Sustainability Officer; Director of Development & Planning Department at Shui On Land, will share insights on how China's approach across real estate, energy and supply chains is shaping best practices across APAC.

    David Fishman is the Principal at The Lantau Group. He has led the TLG Shanghai team to provide timely and thoughtful analysis to domestic and international stakeholders in the power sector. The Lantau Group is a leading strategy and economic consultancy firm that specializes in the energy sector, particularly in the Asia Pacific region. The company covered clients from power users, generators, investors, and banks who need to make critical decisions on their China energy strategy.

    David Fishman has spent his entire career advising on energy development, energy infrastructure, and electricity consumption, with a focus on East Asia, particularly China. He specializes in power sector policy and economics, power grid development, solar and wind project bankability, power asset transaction support, green power procurement strategy and execution, energy policy, and project management.

    Senior Sustainability PM/Supplier Engagement Lead at Microsoft Device Supply Chain

    Helen joined Microsoft Device Supply Chain in October 2018. Helen focuses on landing sustainability requirements with suppliers. She collaborates closely with suppliers to build sustainability capabilities, tools, and KPIs in areas such as Science-Based Targets (SBTi), Carbon-free Electricity (CFE), energy efficiency, waste, and water management. She also manages online reporting and data/evidence validation.

    With a deep understanding of supply chain sustainability, Helen excels at translating complexity into actionable approaches. She is a SME (Subject Matter Expert) in CFE feasibility studies, data exchange for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Energy Efficiency Program (EEP), and recycled content claim validation and certifications.

    Albert leads the site feasibility and concept, master planning and design management of developments at Shui On Land. Beginning with Shanghai Xintiandi in 1997, he led the planning and design of “Tiandi” large scale mixed-use communities in Shanghai, Wuhan, Chongqing, Foshan and other cities in China over the last 20+ years. These developments have received multiple international accolades including ULI Global, ULI Asia Pacific Awards for Excellence, awards from the World Bank, AIA, MIPIM, CTBUH, plus various national and local levels awards. All communities received LEED neighborhood Gold level certifications as well as various building level certifications. Shanghai Xintiandi Community also received world’s first WELL Community certification in 2019.

    Albert is a member of Sustainable Development Executive Committee at the company. Before working for Shui On Land, Albert’s employment includes Cooper Robertson and Partners, and New York City Department of Design and Construction.

    Albert is a ULI Global Trustee and chaired the ULI Mainland China Council from 2017-2019. He co-chairs the China Real Estate Design Competition jury, is also jury member of ULI and CTBUH awards. Albert is an Adviser of the HKUST Guangzhou Campus Development Board, and a member of the Board of Directors of American Institute of Architects Shanghai Chapter. Albert received his Master degrees from Columbia University, U.C. Berkeley, the Stern School at NYU, and his B. Arch from University of Minnesota.

    Albert has been a long time member of Amcham Shanghai, and am pleased that Amcham select the Xintiandi Community to be its home base.
