Event Details
AmCham Shanghai's Art & Culture Committee invites you to a breathtaking virtual tour of No.12 The Bund, the former historical HSBC building and one of the most grandiose and magnificent buildings on the Bund on April 25, from 10:00-11:00 am. The online tour is co-hosted by SimpliCity, a Shanghai-based startup that provides unique explorative learning programs to help participants gain keen China insights.
No.12 The Bund is a six-story, neo-classical building. It served as the headquarters of HSBC from 1923 to 1955, and currently houses the Shanghai Pudong Development Bank. Designed by the British architecture firm Palmer & Turner Architects and Surveyors, construction of the building lasted from May 5, 1921 to June 23, 1923. The building was once proclaimed as "the most dazzling jewel, the most resplendent pearl, the most exquisite crystal and the most valuable piece of art".
The interior of the building is known for its intricate details, including fully restored ceiling mosaics visible from the building's foyer. This virtual tour, led by the Chair of the Art & Culture Committee Juju Wang and the Founder & CEO of SimpliCity Jerry Zhu, will bring you unique opportunities to discover the architectural details of the building and the history behind it.
This bilingual event is open to AmCham members and member employees only.
* The tour will be live streamed on Zoom. After you register on EventBank, you will receive an email with the ZoomWebinar ID 1 day and again 1 hour before the event.
