Eric Zheng is the President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, responsible for supporting over 3,000 member companies in the Yangtze River Delta area. He has previously served on the board of AmCham Shanghai as a member, treasurer, secretary, vice chairman, and 2018-2019 chairman.

Eric had a long career with American International Group (AIG) with a series of executive positions that culminated in his service as President & CEO of AIG China. Before AIG, Eric worked for the U.S. Department of Commerce as the principal commercial officer at the U.S. Consulate in Guangzhou. Prior to relocating to China, Eric worked for PwC in the U.S. for many years as a management consultant. Eric holds several volunteer roles including the Greater China regional chair and a board director of the Committee of 100, a non-partisan organization of prominent Chinese Americans.

Han Lin is the China Country Director of The Asia Group (TAG), a Washington D.C.-based consultancy. Han leads the firm’s local presence and engagements in China, drawing upon nearly 20 years of in-country finance and corporate strategy experience. In addition to his role at TAG, Han is also an Associate Professor of Practice in Finance at NYU Shanghai where he teaches undergraduate, graduate and executive-level courses.

Before his current roles, Han was the Deputy General Manager of Wells Fargo Bank in China where he led the bank’s build out and served as a member of the Asia-Pacific Governance Committee and interim China Country Manager. Han also led the China Corporate Banking business, which advised the bank’s multinational clients on their U.S.-China cross-border strategic financing needs. Other positions held include Asia-Pacific Head of Financial Institutions USD Product Sales, Senior China Coverage Banker in the Financial Institutions Group (FIG), and corporate strategic projects lead.

Han holds advanced degrees, including an MA in International Studies from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, an MS in Global Finance from HKUST-NYU Stern, and an LLM in China Civil and Commercial Law from Fudan University Law School. He completed his undergraduate degree in business (BBA) at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Han is active in the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, having served on the Board of Governors (4 years) and currently serving as its Financial Services Committee Chair. He previously served in the U.S. Marine Corps (Indo-Pacific), and the Peace Corps (Ukraine). Han lives in Shanghai with his wife and two daughters. He is frequently quoted in global media outlets including the Financial Times, BBC, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, South China Morning Post, and the Nikkei Asia.

David Hathaway is a Principal for China at The Asia Group, where he is a key leader for the firm in helping clients handle the complex challenges and opportunities of the China market. He works with clients to navigate the commercial, political, and regulatory landscape in China, and adapt strategies to emerging geopolitical changes.

David has three decades of experience as an advisor and consultant to commercial and non-profit institutions, government agencies, and multilateral development institutions in China and across Asia. He has spent 13 years based in-country in China and also brings on-the-ground experience in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. David also serves as a non-resident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Global China Hub.

Prior to joining The Asia Group, David served for eight years as a Senior Vice President with the Albright Stonebridge Group, where he led client engagements for the firm’s China practice. In this capacity, he helped clients navigate issues at the intersection of business and government, including reevaluating strategic positioning in the market based on the evolving geopolitical and business landscape, market entry, decision-making around new policies and regulations, intellectual property rights, managing partnerships, planning and implementing localization strategies, and building support for clients’ presence in the China market with key stakeholders. He has supported clients across a wide range of sectors, including energy, clean technology, aviation and aerospace, financial services and investment, product and manufacturing standards, agriculture, healthcare, retail, autonomous and alternative energy vehicles, and environmental conservation. David also helped lead business development for the practice.
Prior to the Albright Stonebridge Group, David served as an advisor to the Stephen A. Schwarzman Education Foundation, supporting efforts to launch the Schwarzman Scholars Program in Beijing.

Prior to this, David spent 20 years at ICF International, where he helped launch and then lead the firm’s China practice. While at ICF, David led client support for numerous U.S. government and multilateral development institutions in developing and implementing programs of collaboration in China and other Southeast Asian countries in areas including clean technology and climate policy. David also led the launch and management of ICF’s Beijing operations. As Vice President and Managing Director of ICF’s China office, David opened the firm’s legal business entity in Beijing, hired and managed staff, and built multiple lines of commercial business across the clean energy and aviation sectors. David also led the development and launch of ICF’s support for a Bangkok-based $22 million five-year program with USAID to strengthen climate policy capacity across 11 countries in Asia, as well as a Beijing-based $6 million three-year program with the European Commission to build capacity for developing and implementing China’s emerging carbon emissions trading regime. David also coordinated ICF’s Asia-Pacific business development, working with offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, Manila, and New Delhi.

Shan has over a decade of experience analyzing China's economic policies and advising multinationals and financial institutions. With expertise across a wide range of domains, Shan helps clients connect the dots and identify the key changes underneath cyclical dynamics
Prior to Hutong Research, Shan was a partner of Plenum China Research 2019-2023, covering industrial policies with a focus on energy transition, as well as other structural changes in China such as those in the housing and labor markets.
Before Plenum, Shan worked at Rhodium Group, where she examined China's economic reform in-depth and designed quantitative indicators to track progress. Via years of close monitoring, Shanhas gained comprehensive insights into many sectors including trade, investment, and innovation. climate, even antitrust, and land.

Earlier, Shan worked at Deloitte, where she helped multinationals navigate tax rules across the Pacific with strategic planning and structuring. There, she developed first-hand experience in cross-border transactions and how policies affect firms' financials.
Shan holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance from Hong Kong Polytechnic University. and a master's degree in public administration from Columbia University. Shan lived in Hong Kong for over ten years, speaks Cantonese, and lived in New York, London, and Xi'an-her hometown.
