AmCham Shanghai's Financial Services Committee (FSC) will host a CFO Roundtable on Wednesday, November 15, from 3:30-5:00 pm, in the AmCham Shanghai Conference Room.


Today's complex geopolitical and economic landscape means multinational companies face uncertainties and challenges in tax and trade compliance that are much greater than before.


Our guest speakers will be Sunny Leung, Head of International Tax, KPMG China, and Harry Zhang, Head of Trade and Customs and Global Supply Chain, KPMG China. With their considerable expertise, Sunny and Harry will introduce the critical issues shaping the tax and trade compliance environment in China through practical case studies and discussions.

Background

The Financial Services Committee's CFO Roundtable is the Chamber's invitation-only members gathering of senior practitioners in the corporate finance space. It provides an off-the-record forum for discussion on a broad range of topics including general management, transformation, financial planning and analysis, corporate tax, M&A strategy, capital controls, etc.

    Head of International Tax at KPMG China,

    Sunny started her career in New York in 1997. She joined KPMG New York office, Federal Tax practice in 2000 and provided U.S. tax compliance and advisory services to multinational companies.

    Sunny joined KPMG Shanghai tax department in 2005. Since then, Sunny has been providing domestic and international tax advisory and compliance services to multinational companies investing in China as well as Chinese domestic companies.

    Sunny is very experienced with common structuring and tax issues that are unique in China and the practical solutions.

    Sunny is the ASPAC and China Lead for International Tax for KPMG and is very experienced in advising on overseas IPO and holding structures.

    She has been serving domestic and multi-national companies in TMT, life science, consumer markets, as well as traditional manufacturing and service industries. Sunny has been extensively involved in providing tax due diligence, and general tax health check services, and advising clients on routine operational issues in China, M&A structuring, SPA negotiation, post-acquisition integration, pre-IPO restructuring, cross-border supply chain planning, and various tax incentive applications.

    Harry has spent 20+ year in Trade and Customs area. He started his career working for the China Customs Authority and reached the position of deputy section chief of legal affair department. He then joined professional firms to provide customs advisory services. Over the last 14 years, Harry has advised many clients on customs and trade related matters. 

    Harry has extensive experiences in working with local government authority, as well as in building up the customs and trade related advisory business in mainland China and Hongkong.

    After leaving the China Customs Authority, Harry worked with another Big 4 firm and then joined a US law firm specialized in trade and customs area before joining KPMG.

    As the greater China practice leader of the law firm, and building on his authority-based background, his Big 4 advisory experiences, and his strong legal training, Harry developed a solution based approach, balancing the need for legal compliance and risk management, with the practical and sometimes unique characteristics of China customs landscape.

    Harry has assisted clients in many industries, including technology, auto, medical, chemical, foods and beverage, electrical/electronics, luxury products etc., on their customs needs, including some highly challenging cross-border issues.
