On Thursday, October 26, from 12:00-1:30 p.m., AmCham Shanghai Financial Services Committee (FSC) will host an invite-only, off-the-record roundtable on AmCham Shanghai's 2023 China Business Report and D.C. Doorknock at the AmCham office.


The event will start with an overview by Ian Driscoll (Director of Communications) on key survey findings and implications for the US business community in China. Afterward, observations from the Chamber's recent D.C. Doorknock will be shared by Eric Zheng (President), Titi Baccam (Director of Government Relations), and Han Lin (Professor, NYU Shanghai and Senior Advisor, The Asia Group) before the floor is opened for general discussion.


Sandwich lunch will be provided for attendees.

    Eric Zheng

    President at AmCham Shanghai

    Eric Zheng became the President of AmCham Shanghai in 2022. He has been involved in the Chamber for over 15 years as a member, committee leader, Board member, Board treasurer, Board secretary, and Board vice chair, and Board chair (2018 and 2019).

    Eric brings a unique combination of private and public sector experiences to the presidency. He worked in management consulting with PwC in the U.S. and later served for the U.S. Department of Commerce as the principal commercial officer at the U.S. Consulate in Guangzhou. Eric had a long career with AIG in Greater China and held a series of positions that culminated in his service as CEO of AIG China. He then chaired the board of Heng An Standard Life Insurance Company.

    In volunteer roles, Eric serves as the Greater China regional chair of the Committee of 100 and as a board director of Shanghai Make-A-Wish Charity Foundation. The Shanghai municipal government has granted Eric its Magnolia Gold Award in recognition of his significant contributions to the city. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Fudan University and an MBA from Georgetown University.

    Ian Driscoll is the publications and communications director at AmCham Shanghai. Previously, Ian worked as a freelance journalist and at Reuters. His writing appeared in the Financial Times, Weekend Financial Times, Euromoney publications, the BBC website, and elsewhere.

    Born in Singapore, Ian has lived and worked in Beijing, Hong Kong, London, New York, Shanghai and Sydney.

    Veomayoury Baccam is the Director of Government Relations & Corporate Social Responsibility at the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai. The American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, known as the "Voice of American Business" in China, was founded in 1915. AmCham Shanghai was the third American Chamber established outside the United States, and now has 3,000 members from 1,500 companies. As a non-profit, non-partisan business organization, AmCham Shanghai is committed to the principles of free trade, open markets, private enterprise and the unrestricted flow of information. She is responsible for coordinating the Chamber’s advocacy efforts with the U.S. Government and Chinese government and its Corporate Social Responsibility programs. Prior to joining AmCham, Ms. Baccam worked for 12 years in the U.S. diplomatic service. Her previous postings include Moscow, Geneva, Washington D.C., and Shanghai. She received her bachelor’s degree from George Washington University and a Masters of International and Public Affairs from Columbia University.

    Han Lin is an Assistant Professor of Finance at NYU Shanghai. In addition, Han is the China Senior Advisor to The Asia Group (TAG) drawing upon nearly 20 years of in-country experience in China’s financial markets and corporate strategy.

    Prior to his current positions, Han was the Deputy General Manager of Wells Fargo Bank, China, where he served as Interim Country Manager and a member of the Management Control Committee, which oversaw the bank’s China governance and risk management. Han also led the China Corporate Banking business, which advised Wells Fargo MNC clients on their U.S.-China cross-border strategic financing and trade needs. Earlier bank roles included Asia Financial Institutions Payments Product Sales Manager; Senior Coverage Banker in the China Financial Institutions Group (FIG); and corporate strategic projects analyst.

    Han holds advanced degrees, including an MA in International Studies from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, an MS in Global Finance from HKUST-NYU Stern, and an LLM in China Civil and Commercial Law from Fudan University Law School. He completed his undergraduate degree in business (BBA) at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

    Han is active in the American Chamber of Commerce, Shanghai, having served on the Board of Governors and as a former Chair of the Chamber’s Financial Services Committee. He previously served in both the U.S. Marine Corps and Peace Corps (RCPV Ukraine). Han lives in Shanghai with his wife and two daughters.
