About Changzhou and the West Taihu Lake Science & Technology Zone (Jiangsu Wujin Economic Development Zone)

Changzhou locates in southern Jiangsu in the middle of the Yangtze River Delta, it borders the Yangtze River in the north and the Taihu Lake in the south. Changzhou used to be one of the birthplaces of the national modern industry in China, and now it is becoming a modern equipment manufacturing city with prominent domestic advantages and huge potentials.

The West Taihu Lake Science & Technology Zone is an important growth point of the YRD economic circle. It has five major industries: Health (including both medical equipment and health service), new material (represented by graphene), high-end manufacturing, digital economy, cultural tourism.

常州西太湖科技产业园（江苏武进经济开发区）是长三角经济圈重要的增长点。园区重点发展5大板块产业：健康（包括医疗器械和健康服务），新材料（以石墨烯为代表），高端制造，数字经济，文化旅游。

Changzhou is well-known for its medical device industry across China. The West Taihu Lake Science & Technology Zone has already developed six key sub-industrial groups: orthopedic, dentistry, IVD, surgical tools, medical supplies and rehabilitation equipment. Until the October of 2021, more than 200 medical device and biopharmaceutical manufacturers and more than 300 medical industry distributors have gathered in the zone. The zone has set up West Taihu Lake Cell Therapy Frontier Technology Research Institute in September 2020. The institute focuses on cell therapy and its public services, project incubation, and new equipment development.

常州系全国知名的医疗器械产业大市，常州西太湖科技产业园依托全市良好的产业氛围，着力打造并形成了六大特色子产业群：骨科、齿科、体外诊断试剂、外科手术工具、卫生材料以及康复器材。截止到2021年10月，园区已经聚集了200多家的医疗器械和生物医药制造企业，以及300多家的医疗产业经销商。园区于2020年月9月成立西太湖细胞治疗前沿技术研究院，开展以细胞基因治疗前沿技术为核心的研究，以及公共服务、项目孵化和新型设备研发。
