China has recently promulgated a number of laws and regulations on cybersecurity and data protection. These upcoming laws and regulations lay down critical obligations for companies on cybersecurity maintenance and data compliance, which are closely related to companies' daily operations. Certain rules may substantially affect companies' business decisions on various issues, such as product design involving personal information processing, internal data processing process, selection of network equipment suppliers, onshore and offshore data processing arrangement, global data server deployment strategy and even IPO planning.
