Ian Driscoll is the Communications and Publications Director at the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai (AmCham Shanghai). Previously, Ian worked as a freelance journalist and as a reporter at Reuters in New York. His writing appeared in the Financial Times, Asia Money and several other newspapers and magazines. Born in Singapore, Ian has worked in Beijing, Hong Kong, London, New York and Sydney. His background includes a master’s degree in international affairs with a concentration in East Asian studies.

He joined Hays China in January 2016 after relocating from Russia where he spent 12 years. He has more than 15 years of work experience in the recruitment industry, among them more than 13 in mid to senior recruitment and 2 in executive search. During his career, Christian worked on many assignments, with a strong focus on sales and marketing roles across all sectors (B2B, B2C and retail), logistics positions (in-house and in the transportation sector) and senior roles (general management, directors). His management experiences include growing teams of recruiters from scratch, turning around businesses or opening new countries.

With a Master’s Degree in International Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Thomas Shao started his career in Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce in 2000. He served as the Chief English Interpreter for Mayor of Shanghai for 7 years before he was promoted to Assistant Director for Foreign Investment Promotion Department in 2007. In 2012, he joined Evonik Degussa China as Senior Manager for Public Policy. In 2014, he joined Abbott as the Associate GA Director. Now he is
GA Director of Abbott China, responsible for policy & strategy and crisis management as well as supporting manufacturing operations in China.
