Eric Zheng is Senior Advisor of Shanghai Eastern American Steel Building Co., Ltd. Prior to that he worked for AIG from 2004-2018 in a range of positions, including as President & CEO of AIG Insurance Company China Limited. Eric’s other AIG roles include General Manager of AIG Shanghai Branch and Head of Strategic Planning for AIG China. He joined AIG in Shanghai in 2005 and has played a key role in establishing AIG China in 2007 and then expanding its market position. He joined AIG in Hong Kong in 2004 as part of the China expansion planning team.
Prior to joining AIG, Eric served as principal commercial officer at the U.S. Consulate General in Guangzhou. He spearheaded advocacy efforts for U.S. companies pursuing major business opportunities in China. He also served as an Honorary Governor of AmCham South China. Previously, Eric was a management consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in the U.S., where he advised multinational companies on doing business in China.
An active AmCham Shanghai member since 2005, Eric’s roles include Vice Chair of the Board (2017), Governor (2016-2017 and 2011-2014), Chair of the Nomination & Election Committee for the 2015 Board of Governors (2014), Treasurer (2011-2013), and Chair of the Financial Services Committee (2007-2010).
Eric holds a BA degree from Fudan University in Shanghai and an MBA from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. The Shanghai government has honored him with the prestigious Magnolia Gold and Silver Awards for contributions to the development of Shanghai.
