Join us Friday, May 24 from 15:00-17:00 at the Real Bread Cafe (No.47 Guanjiaqiao, Gulou District, Nanjing, near Xinjiekou) for the Nanjing International Women's Forum - Achieving Career & Family Success. Our speaker Sue Northcott, Admissions Director of Nanjing International School and a mother of two, is looking forward to sharing her experiences being a successful career-driven women, while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Most importantly, a healthy family relationship, guiding her son Edmund Northcott on his journey to become a successful lawyer.


Friday, Edmund will also briefly introduce his life and professional experience working with women, especially in a diverse, multicultural environment. Edmund currently works for King & Wood Mallesons' Dispute Resolution group in London, but has also spent a significant amount of time working in their United Arab Emirates Dubai office. He will be working at KWM's Nanjing and Shanghai offices over the next four months. Edmund is the first London-based associate to go on secondment to China.

    Admissions Director of Nanjing International School

    Sue is currently the Admissions Director at Nanjing International School where she has maintained stable enrolment for the last 6 years and continued to build the reputation of NIS as the best international school in Nanjing. She is a qualified UK Solicitor and has worked all over the globe over the last 35 years including UK, Egypt, Sri Lanka and China. She was Deputy Director of Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Cambridge, UK for 6 years where she was responsible for Women’s and Children’s Services. Sue has also worked at the British Council in Sri Lanka and taught at the Overseas School of Colombo. Sue has also taught excluded children in the UK, working closely with all stakeholders to keep children most at risk from entering the criminal justice system.
    With a strong service and volunteer ethos to her varied career, she served in UK as a Local Councillor under PM, John Major, worked with Women’s Aid in Aberdeen and as Secretary of the Elton Society the village where she lived for 5 years before moving to China.

    Sue is most proud of the three men in her life – her husband Simon of 35 years , and their two sons. One an international arbitration lawyer based in London and the other working in Dubai in US sports management company Wasserman.

    Edmund is a junior associate in KWM’s Dispute Resolution group in London. Edmund has over 2 years of experience working on complex multi-jurisdiction disputes in English and offshore litigation. Edmund’s work has focused on defending Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan against their investment-treaty arbitration claims, representing a Russian oligarch in a BVI-based litigation regarding a US$1 billion fraud claim and working with Chinese companies enforcing their judgments in the UK. In 2016, Edmund spent 6 months on secondment at KWM’s Dubai office and will be working at KWM’s Nanjing and Shanghai offices over the next 4 months, being the first London-based associate to go on secondment to China with KWM.
