AmCham Shanghai's Automotive Committee is excited to present our 2019 Automotive Conference: Navigate China in the '20s on Tuesday, September 17th from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm at Jing An Shangri-La Hotel.
The Chinese economy is entering the 2020s with cautious optimism as the middle-class population expands and consumption rises. Despite this, we see increasing concerns over the impact of a deceleration in overall economic growth, with a significant impact already being felt in the automotive sector. Automakers are worried the industry is passed its peak. New car sales decreased in 2018, after decades of sharp growth, due to consumption patterns being altered by shared mobility, an increasing supply of used cars and supply chains shifting due to rising costs and trade disputes. These forces have the potential to reshape China's auto industry dramatically in the next decade. What can automotive companies do to succeed in a profoundly different economic and competitive landscape?
The key to sustainable success in the '20s will depend on the ability to seize opportunities emerging from changes in the market demand and translating that into relevant mobility solutions. To stay in front of the trends, an "early warning system" which leverages unique market, technology and regulatory insights is needed.
In this event, analysts and industry experts will present their perspectives on the how the market, products and business models may develop over the next decade in China. They will share their insights on plausible scenarios for the future of China's auto industry, and the capabilities needed to compete in the China auto industry between now and 2025.
