AmCham Shanghai's Legal Committee and Food, Agriculture & Beverage Committee jointly invites you to attend Intellectual Property and Regulatory Issues in the Food and Beverage Industry on Thursday, September 13 from 12:00 to 13:30 at the AmCham Shanghai Conference Center.


Andrew Sim, Partner at Baker & McKenzie LLP who leads the China Food and Beverage practice will share his industry insights and cover current issues including:

Following the presentation will be a panel discussion with industry experts from Coca-Cola, Mondelez, and Wine Australia to provide additional insights on the market. The panel will be moderated by Gentry Sayad, Chair of the Legal Committee.

    Andrew Sim

    Partner at Baker & McKenzie

    Andrew Sim is a partner in Baker McKenzie’s Intellectual Property group in Hong Kong and China. His practice focuses primarily on intellectual property law in the People’s Republic of China. He has contributed articles to leading legal publications such as World Trademark Review and The Singapore Law Gazette. Mr. Sim is a member of the Singapore Academy of Law and the Law Society of Hong Kong. Mr. Sim regularly assists clients in strategizing their intellectual property rights and directing anti-counterfeiting operations in the areas of trademarks, copyright, trade names, passing off, unfair competition, designs, labeling laws, consumer, media and advertising laws. Mr. Sim’s practice also includes domain name, Internet and technology laws. Mr. Sim is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong. He is a qualified New York attorney-at-law, admitted as an advocate and solicitor in Singapore and a solicitor in England and Wales, and is a barrister-at-law in the UK. He is also a registered patent agent in Singapore.

    David Lucas is Wine Australia’s recently appointed Regional General Manager, China. He has spent the past 20 years in Asia and has significant experience within the wine and spirits categories across North Asia. David has undertaken multiple roles for ASC Fine Wines, one of the largest importers and distributors of Australian wines in China, including Vice President Sales, and thus has a deep understanding of Chinese channel management. Prior to ASC Fine Wines, David spent many years at Bacardi and Allied Domecq developing spirits markets. David leads the Wine Australia team in China, endeavoring to create opportunities for Australian wineries and brands and strengthen the growth and popularity of Australian wine in the market.

    Ms. Macintosh is a senior associate at Baker McKenzie’s Beijing office. Her practice focuses on China intellectual property registration and enforcement. She has successfully prosecuted trademark infringement cases for many global brands and has won "well known" trademark status for her clients through China's administrative system. Ms. Macintosh advises on all areas of brand protection issues in China including online infringement, customs enforcement, trademark prosecution, franchise agreements and trade dress. Previously, she worked in Australia on large IT outsourcing projects, advising clients on technology licensing and data security.
