AmCham Shanghai is delighted to host Dr. Paul Clifford, a business strategist and economic historian with over 30 years of experience in China, at the AmCham Conference Center on Tuesday, July 17th, at 12.30 p.m. Dr. Clifford is the author of The China Paradox โ At the Front Line of Economic Transformation, an acclaimed and incisive look into China's economic reforms and the delicate and fragile balance of the forces which lie at the heart of China's success.
Clifford has consulted to Chinese state-owned and private firms including in integrated logistics, telecoms infrastructure, shipping, railways, minerals extraction, consumer white goods, and telecoms operations. He has also advised Fortune 500 companies in China across many sectors from automotive and building materials to financial services and semiconductors.
Clifford worked with Cisco Systems where he was responsible for China strategy and alliances and before that was Managing Partner, China, at Oliver Wyman, providing strategy consulting to Chinese and foreign firms, and Vice President of The First National Bank of Chicago. He has taught Chinese history, politics and language at universities in the UK and Mexico. He has a PhD in Modern Chinese history from SOAS, University of London, and a post-graduate diploma from Peking University. He first came to China in 1974 and is fluent in Chinese.
Clifford is a non-resident Senior Fellow at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University
