AmCham Shanghai's Real Estate and Construction Committee invites you to a members-only committee roundtable on the Shanghai commercial property market outlook for 2018 on Thursday, February 1 from 12:00–13:30 at The Executive Centre.

Michael Ball, Associate Director, Retail Agency, JLL, Jonathon Douglas, Associate Director, Occupier Services, DTZ Cushman & Wakefield Shanghai, and Tammy Tang, Executive Director, Industrial Services Colliers International, will share their insights and present an overview forecast of Shanghai’s retail, office, and industrial sectors in the new year.

This will be a brown-bag lunch event.

    Michael is part of JLL’s Shanghai Retail team, working with leading international and domestic fashion and restaurant brands, helping them to build their presence here in Shanghai and across China. He works closely with retailers to offer them best in class advice on their market entry and location strategies, and thereafter assist them in identifying and securing the locations that best meet their individual objectives.


    In addition, Michael advise several leading landlords, developers and investors on the acquisition, development and management of retail properties in Shanghai. Providing bespoke market analysis, asset management initiatives and tenant mix recommendations that enable them to optimize the value of their investment; ensuring they are best placed to meet the changing requirements of retail tenants and customers.

    Prior to moving to China, Michael worked in London for 10 years advising landlords and investors on the acquisition and leasing strategies of their assets and provided brokerage services for a wide range of domestic and international retailers across the UK.

    Michael graduated from the University of Manchester with an Honor degree in Economics and subsequently completed an MSc in Property Asset Management at Sheffield Hallam University. Michael is a chartered Surveyor and a member of the RICS.

    Jonathon Douglas is a multilingual real estate services professional, who specializes in assisting multinational and professional service companies with their real estate requirements in Shanghai’s central business district.

    Representing both Chinese and international clients in Shanghai, Jonathon is one of only several American real estate professionals capable of negotiating with local landlords and developers on his clients’ behalf in Mandarin Chinese. He has experience adjudicating complex leasing agreements, including expansions, lease restructuring and new lease setups, and carrying out in depth financial analyses.

    Tammy has been in the real estate industry since 1997 when she ran a residential agency in Guangzhou. Her industrial real estate experience started in Jones Lang LaSalle in 2006 as a Manager with the Industrial team. After proving herself to be a capable broker, she started leading the Industrial Consulting team, Business Parks Landlord Representation team and eventually the whole Business Parks transaction team in 2008. In 2011, Tammy became a National Director, Head of Industrial in Shanghai, and Head of Business Parks and Consultancy in China. She joined Colliers in June 2014 and is responsible for leading the Industrial Services department in China. After three years, the team is now the leading firm in its market.
