    Managing Partner at The Asia Group

    Ambassador Kurt Tong is Managing Partner at The Asia Group.

    Prior to joining The Asia Group, Ambassador Tong served as Consul General and Chief of Mission in Hong Kong and Macau. Ambassador Tong also served as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Economic and Business Affairs at the State Department, the agency’s most senior career diplomat handling economic affairs, from 2014 to 2016. He was Deputy Chief of Mission and Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo from 2011 to 2014.

    Prior to these positions, Ambassador Tong served as Ambassador for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in 2011, leading the U.S. chairmanship of the organization during one of the most productive periods for APEC.

    Ambassador Tong holds a B.A. from The Princeton School of Public and International Affairs and studied economics at the U.S. Foreign Service Institute.

    President at AmCham Shanghai

    Eric Zheng is the President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, responsible for supporting over 3,000 member companies in the Yangtze River Delta area. He has previously served on the board of AmCham Shanghai as a member, treasurer, secretary, vice chairman, and 2018-2019 chairman.

    Eric had a long career with American International Group (AIG) with a series of executive positions that culminated in his service as President & CEO of AIG China. Before AIG, Eric worked for the U.S. Department of Commerce as the principal commercial officer at the U.S. Consulate in Guangzhou. Prior to relocating to China, Eric worked for PwC in the U.S. for many years as a management consultant. Eric holds several volunteer roles including the Greater China regional chair and a board director of the Committee of 100, a non-partisan organization of prominent Chinese Americans.

    Managing Partner at Blue Ocean Advisors

    Kent D. Kedl is Managing Partner at Blue Ocean Advisors, a risk and strategy advisory firm, and serves on corporate and advisory boards for a number of China-based firms. Kent has been living and working in China since the mid-1980s.

    Kent has consulted with multinational and Asia-based corporations on a range of issues including geopolitical risk, M&A and organic growth strategy, crisis management, compliance, and strategic and organisational development programs.

    Kent has also worked across a number of firms in manufacturing, technology and investment banking.

    Kent has worked as a journalist and is a frequent contributor to Asia-based media outlets and, in his spare time, is a comedian and musician.

    Expert Partner at Bain & Company

    Kevin Ye is an expert partner and a core member of our Greater China Performance Improvement practice, based in Shanghai.

    Kevin specializes in creating sustainable performance improvement and financial strategies for global organizations, including Fortune 100 companies. He holds deep functional expertise in procurement, supply chain and large-scale operational transformation.

    He has recently led major operational improvement, sourcing and capability-building efforts and has helped multiple clients establish Asian procurement offices.

    His case portfolio spans industries, including Consumer Products, Automotive, Technology and Telecommunications.

    Kevin previously spent nearly a decade with other top consulting firms and worked in engineering for Intel.

    He holds undergraduate degrees in electronic commerce and applied mathematics, summa cum laude, from Xi’an Jiaotong University.

    Associate Professor of Practice in Finance at NYU Shanghai and China Country Director at The Asia Group

    Han Shen Lin is the China Country Head at The Asia Group. Based in Shanghai, Han works in close coordination with TAG’s Washington, DC-based China Practice to lead the firm’s local presence and engagements in China, drawing upon nearly 20 years of in-country experience in China’s financial markets and corporate strategy. In addition to his role at TAG, Han is the Capstone Project Director for the NYU Shanghai MS in Quantitative Finance program and Assistant Professor of Practice in Finance.

    Prior to his current positions, Han was the Deputy General Manager of Wells Fargo Bank, China, where he served as Interim Country Manager and a member of the Management Control Committee, which oversaw the bank’s China governance and risk management. Han also led the China Corporate Banking business, which advised Wells Fargo MNC clients on their U.S.-China cross-border strategic financing and trade needs. Earlier bank roles included Asia Financial Institutions Payments Product Sales Manager; Senior Coverage Banker in the China Financial Institutions Group (FIG); and corporate strategic projects analyst.

    Han holds advanced degrees, including an MA in International Studies from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, an MS in Global Finance from HKUST-NYU Stern, and an LLM in China Civil and Commercial Law from Fudan University Law School. He completed his undergraduate degree in business (BBA) at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

    Han is active in the American Chamber of Commerce, Shanghai, having served on the Board of Governors and as a former Chair of the Chamber’s Financial Services Committee. He previously served in both the U.S. Marine Corps and Peace Corps (RCPV Ukraine). Han lives in Shanghai with his wife and two daughters.
