Event Details

Despite the tumultuous year 2020 was, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) managed to host over 30 events around the world that reached tens of millions of fans globally. While the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic managed to knock out several sports leagues and organizations, the UFC managed to pivot and remain largely undisrupted by the impact. After moving majority of their events to behind closed doors, the UFC shifted their strategy to better focus on delivering a quality experience to their fans via digital and focused on further driving revenue from pay-per-view subscription, broadcasting deals, merchandise development, sponsorship, and original content.

Here in China, the UFC continues to grow the popularity of the MMA sports through homegrown heroes like Zhang Weili or "The Leech" Li Jingliang, large domestic broadcasting deals i.e. MIGU, merchandise for the local market, and with sports training advisory i.e. Chinese Olympic Committee. AmCham Shanghai's Sports Committee is honored to welcome Kevin Chang, Senior VP of UFC APAC, and Dean Amasinger (Technical Director of MMA at the UFC Performance Institute Shanghai) to take a deep dive into the developments of UFC Asia.
