The much anticipated Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL) of China passed on August 20 has charted out ways in which personal data will be used in China. The law will serve as an important reference not only for companies operating in China but also for implementing rules in the future. However, despite the simplicity of its purpose, questions remain about the scope and implications of the newly passed law. How will the new law affect existing business and how could companies adapt their compliance efforts? To help our members understand the impact of PIPL and how businesses can and should prepare themselves to ensure compliance when the law takes effect on November 1, the Ethics and Compliance Committee and Government Affairs Committee are pleased to jointly present a seminar on the PIPL on September 9 at 9:00 to 10:30 at the AmCham Shanghai Conference Center.
The seminar will feature a presentation by Rossi Luo, Forensics and Cyber Director at Hill & Associates, on the key sections of the law and its impact on companies in China. A panel discussion will follow, with corporate compliance and GA experts providing insights and analysis on how this may shape the corporate data strategy within China going forward. The meeting is off the record.
