    Christine YIU

    Partner at Bird & Bird

    Christine’s science background enables her to work seamlessly with technology companies in devising and implementing strategies that will maximise the return from their IP portfolio.

    Christine is an Intellectual Property partner based in our Shanghai office.

    Her particular expertise is in technology litigation. She has a strong reputation for her ability to handle numerous complex, high value disputes with a cross-border element.

    Christine is an expert on the issue of FRAND resulting from the undertakings given by patent owners to various standard setting organisations as part of their IP policies, and advises international companies extensively on its development around the world. She also has substantive experience with regulatory issues relating to inventor remuneration policy and technology transfer in China.

    Christine is well-connected with both the international and local legal communities in China. She is involved in a number of high-level EU-China IPR discussions between the Ministry of Commerce and the DG Trade of the European Commission in Brussels. Christine also participated in meetings with the Supreme People's Court to discuss potential reform to the patent legislation and was frequently quoted by legal publications in China on IPR issues.

    She was ranked as one of the IP Stars by Managing IP in 2014 and 2015. She also won the "Best for IP Litigation" category at the Euromoney Asia Women in Business Law Awards 2015 and was recognised as one of the "Top 250 Women in IP 2016" by Managing IP.

    Tom is currently the Head of Legal for Takeda’s Greater China region and is based in Shanghai. Previously held the position as Head of Legal & Compliance for Takeda’s North Asia region. Tom joined Takeda in 2011 and relocated to Shanghai from Tokyo, Japan. Prior to Takeda, Tom was in private practice as the foreign counsel for a Japanese law firm for 11 years and was an adjunct Professor at Temple University School of Law, Japan campus. Tom has lived and worked in the US and Japan. He is a US licensed attorney and with the USPTO. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Tom worked in medical research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.

    Eric is the Asia Pacific Regional Counsel for Business Development and head of legal for the Asia Pacific Innovation Center at Johnson & Johnson. In his role, he is responsible for managing Johnson & Johnson’s cross-sector business development and Innovation Center activities in the Asia Pacific region, ranging from early-stage research collaborations to late-stage acquisitions or licenses. Eric also works closely with the company’s leadership to further drive the innovation ecosystem in Asia Pacific by helping design and implement strategic collaborations and initiatives with government sponsored agencies, universities and startups in the region. Prior to joining Johnson & Johnson, Eric worked at Ropes & Gray and Skadden Arps.

    Anita Wei is the Senior Director Public Affairs & Communications for BD Greater China. She joined BD in late 2011 and is a member of BD Greater China Leadership Team as well as the China Operation Committee. In this role, Anita is responsible for developing and managing BDX China level strategic programs focusing on HCW safety and patient safety, establishing and enhancing interaction with commercial and industry associations, leading China Policy Council to drive policy intelligence and corresponding strategies, and generating health economic evidence to support product market access and competitive selling. Anita is now a designated delegate for AdvaMed China Executive Committee and leader for Inclusion & Diversity and WIN (Women Initiative Network) in China. Prior to joining BD, Anita has served Novartis for 6 years and her last role is the Head of Communications for Novartis Pharma Greater China, reporting to the Chairman.
